The Last Ninja on Commodore 64 – I got a double cassette version and will take a look at it.

During 80’s and 90’s, I think only few titles resonate with the same nostalgic effect as ”The Last Ninja” series. It was one of the best series. Among its iterations, the first game holds a special place, capturing the hearts and imaginations of gamers worldwide. At least it did that in Finland.

Released in 1987 by System 3, ”The Last Ninja” introduced players to the world of feudal Japan through the eyes of a lone ninja, armed with martial arts prowess and stealthy skills. One of the most striking elements of ”The Last Ninja” were its graphics and music. The game offered also detailed environments and fluid animations, something that I have never seen before. The players also had to defeat cunning enemies but also had to know how to overcome obstacles. Without the internet back in the days, this was extremely difficult. I have so many good memories with this game, even though I think the second part is far superior. It improved the game on all aspects. But the first one is always something special.
